7 bacterial strains, 40 billion strands

Our Synbiotic 7 boost offers 40 billion healthy bacteria spanning seven bacterial strains, carefully selected in order to protect the intestinal microflora of your gut.

The strains included in our Synbiotic 7 have been specifically chosen due to their potential to resist the upper digestive tract and colonise the lower digestive tract, where they produce an army of digestive enzymes and healthy metabolites. Furthermore, each strain is supported by individual scientific studies showing general improvement in gut health and digestive comfort when consumed regularly.

Which strains have we included?

  • Bacillus subtilis natto early trials have shown Bacillus subtilis both protecting against and potentially clearing a build up of the protein alpha-synuclein which affects patients with Parkinson’s disease.
  • Probiotic Bacillus subtilis Protects against α-Synuclein Aggregation in C. elegans. Goya. M, Xue. F, Quevedo. C. et al. - 2020

  • Bifidobacterium animalis lactis to improve digestive comfort and relieve any feelings of discomfort.
  • Fermented milk containing Bifidobacterium lactis DN-173 010 improved self-reported digestive comfort amongst a general population of adults. A randomized, open-label, controlled, pilot study. Guyonnet. D, Woodcock. A, Stefani. B et al. - France 2009

  • Bifidobacterium breve for its GI-protective and probiotic properties.
  • Effect of probiotic and prebiotic fermented milk on skin and intestinal conditions in healthy young female students. Mori. N, Kano. M, Masuoka. N et al. - Japan 2016

  • Lactobacillus acidophilus with proven probiotic properties that increase the abundance of other healthy bacteria.
  • Symbiotic Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM and cellobiose does not affect human gut bacterial diversity but increases abundance of lactobacilli, bifidobacteria and branched-chain fatty acids: a randomized, double-blinded cross-over trial. van Zanten. GC, Krych. L, Roytio. H et al. - Denmark 2014

  • Lactobacillus paracasei supported by evidence that it has probiotic benefits and a strong ability to survive and colonise the human GIT and improve the GIT microflora.
  • Evaluation of the probiotic potential of Lactobacillus paracasei KW3110 based on in vitro tests and oral administration tests in healthy adults. Nishida. S, Michinaka. A, Nakashima. K et al. - Japan 2008

  • Lactobacillus plantarum proven to reduce inflammation in the gut and provide GI protection
  • The toll-like receptor family protein RP105/MD1 complex is involved in the immunoregulatory effect of exopolysaccharides from Lactobacillus plantarum N14. Murofushi. Y, Villena. J, Morie. K et al. - Japan 2015

  • Streptococcus thermophilus helps to reduce symptoms of lactose intolerance by producing an enzyme that helps break down lactose in the digestive tract.
  • Streptococcus thermophilus Is Able To Produce a β-Galactosidase Active during Its Transit in the Digestive Tract of Germ-Free Mice. Drouault. S, Anba. J and Corthier. G - France 2002

    Prebiotic and Probiotic

Our Synbiotic 7 blend contains both prebiotics and probiotic strains to ensure the 40 billion bacterial strands are operating at their optimum efficiency. Prebiotics are compounds that provide the nutrients and energy for the probiotic bacteria to grow and thrive; they can be seen as a “fertiliser” for the healthy bacteria in your gut to promote growth.

    Bacillus subtilis

Bacillus subtilis is known to have beneficial probiotic characteristics and is the most abundant bacterial species in our Synbiotic 7 with 10 billion CFU per capsule. Studies have shown this unique bacterial strain, Bacillus subtilis to have immunomodulatory properties and to help improve digestive health by strengthening the intestinal barrier and posing anti-inflammatory potential within the GI tract. However, the latest evidence now suggests that Bacillus subtilis could help slow the build up of a protein which is strongly associated with Parkinson’s disease in c.elegans. Early trials have shown Bacillus subtilis both protecting against and potentially clearing a build up of the protein alpha-synuclein which affects patients with Parkinson’s disease. The protective effect of Bacillus subtilis is under further investigation in both laboratory studies and clinical trials, however the results of initial stages suggest the benefits of Bacillus subtilis to be extremely promising.

Probiotics are live bacteria that have numerous proven health benefits for your whole body; they have been shown to maintain good brain health, boost your energy levels and promote a healthy digestive system. Probiotics are present in some fermented foods however symbiotic supplements are a much easier and more convenient way to get a high dose of healthy bacteria into your body. Compared to many other symbiotic supplements, as well as the probiotic-containing fermented foods, our Symbiotic 7 does not need to be refrigerated and can be taken with you anywhere you may need.

A gut reaction to modern life

Common practices in modern life tend to lead to a depletion of our healthy gut bacteria. Overuse of antibiotics, plus strict hygiene standards mean that we don't have a chance to develop the healthy bacterial colonies we need.
